CosmoTrends 2026: Turn Beauty Trends into a Coherent Device Brief

Bologna’s 2026 CosmoTrends report highlights cooling, touch and longevity. A device brand needs to translate those themes into decisions it can actually validate.

The 2026 CosmoTrends report from Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, curated by BEAUTYSTREAMS, groups selected exhibitor innovations into five themes including longevity, upgraded hair tools, cooling concepts and tactile experiences. It draws on submitted innovations rather than a representative survey of all consumers. The report is therefore a directional view of the show’s product thinking—not proof that every featured claim is validated, or that every trend will generate demand in every market.

A theme is not yet a product requirement

“Longevity” can describe a broad brand story while leaving the supplier with no usable engineering instruction. “Cooling” is more tangible, but still needs a defined use case and a controlled operating experience. A buyer should translate the theme into what the consumer does, what the product does and what evidence the proposed message needs.

The translation should also identify what will be left out. A device built to combine every fashionable term can become hard to explain and expensive to support. A focused routine with a clear reason to exist is a better starting point than an overcrowded feature list.

Use a three-column brief

The first column is the customer task: for example, explaining a cleansing step or making a regular care routine easier to follow. The second is the proposed product response: construction, controls, accessories and instructions. The third is the verification plan: what the sample review and supporting documents must establish.

Keeping the columns separate makes unsupported language easier to spot. If a claim appears in the first column but has no evidence plan in the third, it is not ready for packaging. If a feature appears in the second but solves no customer task, it may be unnecessary complexity.

  • Choose one principal routine and one intended customer group.
  • Describe the required experience without borrowing a competitor’s proprietary terminology.
  • Separate appearance customization from functional development.
  • Define the evidence needed before any outcome claim is used.

Evaluate the range as a system, not a collection

For a brand that also sells skincare, the device should have an understandable place in the range. Which step does it support? What does the customer need to read before use? Does the existing packaging language create a confusing promise when combined with a device?

Do not assume that a topical formula and an electrical device have been assessed together merely because their marketing stories sound compatible. Compatibility, permitted use and claim wording should be reviewed for the particular combination. The trend report provides ideas; it does not perform that review for your project.

A concrete starting point from BINZIM

BINZIM’s BZ-0116 is catalogued as an Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber, shown in the original photo below. It offers a real model around which to frame a cleansing-related brief. It is not claimed to deliver the longevity effects or formulation results described by exhibitors in the trend report.

Bring the supplier a defined routine, intended channel and artwork direction. Then review the sample, current specification and project-specific customization. A disciplined brief turns a broad trend into a sourcing conversation that can lead to a clearly specified product.
